Why Commodities For Every Portfolio

Commodities For Every Portfolio

SFO Magazine, March 5th, 2008

It's hard not to follow commodities markets. With $80 oil promising
that another winter heating season will take a bite out of household
budgets and with high grain prices already translating into steeper
grocery and restaurant bills, commodities impact nearly every waking
moment of every day. Consumers can grumble. But investors can do
something about it, says author Emanuel Balarie, in his first book,
"Commodities for Every Portfolio: How You Can Profit from the
Long-Term Commodity Boom."

One can argue that a period of high commodity prices (records for
many) is not the time to begin sniffing around in these markets
because simply, they're too expensive. Not necessarily so, writes
Balarie, who believes a long-term bull market is far from over and in
fact, is still in its early stages. And he argues, all investing
styles--conservative, daring and everything in between--could and
should include commodities in one form or another, from futures to
mutual funds to exchange-traded funds.
